Personal Statement

An enthusiastic, well organised and dependable individual, with good literacy, numeracy and communication skills. I am proactive, value using my initiative and working as part of a team, taking pride and responsibility in giving a hundred percent in everything I do. Currently studying a postgraduate diploma at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield. Recently, I received an apprentice qualification in Production Management, working in the Natural History Unit BBC Studios. I am highly interested in using originality as a key skill within my career, with a desire to learn and develop my knowledge through experience and active involvement.

NFTS: ‘Ether’ - Floor Runner/ Production Assistant (September-October 2024)

Working within the Assistant Directing department as a runner and production assistant to a short film produced within the National Film and Television School.

BBC - Personal Assistant - Business Management and Administration (April-August 2024) 

Providing administrative assistance to a group of managers, acting as the first point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders.

BBC Production Management Apprentice - September 2022-May 2024

Working directly under the PMs and PCs on multiple projects in the Natural History Unit (BBC Bristol). This is a highly competitive apprenticeship, which received a lot of applicants and limited vacancies. I receive dedicated training in production management, a Level 4 qualification and opportunities to be involved in location and studio shoots (working with producers, directors and camera operators).

Duties and responsibilities: working on a production team; providing assistance to the PCs and PMs; managing diaries (series producer); scheduling meetings; completing forms (call sheets; NDAs; team information; and more); general office arranging (birthdays and other events); using the PMI system; booking flights, vehicles, and more; managing my own apprenticeship education alongside work.

BFI Film Academy Short Course - 2nd Assistant Director/ Production Mentor & Support (October-December 2023)

Through my own initiative, I was able to work with the organisers of a new BFI course being offered in North Devon. This course allows young creatives to create a short film and attend masterclasses. On this course, I attended the production shoot days to offer support and assist, in addition I led a section of the careers discussion.

NFTS Grad Film: Remains - Production Coordinator (June-July 2023)

Production coordinating for a NFTS student grad film (short, fiction), shot across different locations in England (including: National Film and Television School). 

Disney Imagine x NFTS: Space Plug - Production Trainee (May 2023)

Working on the NFTS main stage for Marcus Anthony Thomas’ Disney short film: Space Plug. Jobs included: assisting the PM; runner jobs (shop runs, food runs, coffee runs, and more); assisting the 1st AD; collecting and distributing lunch; organising and restocking the craft table, and more.

Eurovision 2023 - Interval Runner (April 24th-May 13th 2023)

Working as a part of the Production Support Team on Eurovision 2023, which took place in Liverpool. Floor running and admin work (expenses, Albert, schedules and more).

BFI Network & ScreenSkills: Animation Producer Lab (2024)

BFI NETWORK South West ran a new Animation Producer Lab in collaboration with ScreenSkills, supported by the Animation Skills Fund.  The Lab supports animation producers with a focus on key areas of responsibility (generally shared across 2D, 3D and stop-motion) including story development, financing, budgeting, scheduling, pitching and project management.

Peninsula Producers Network (2024)

BFI Network South West partnered with Screen Cornwall and Exeter Phoenix, joining emerging producers in Cornwall and Devon together. I was chosen to participate in the 2024 cohort of 10 out of lots of other applicants.

BFI Network: Queer Storytelling Workshop

Split across two exclusive sessions, I was selected to participate in the BFI Network storytelling workshops for writers who identify as LGBTQIA+, which received a large number of applicants and only twelve places.

BBC Bitesize Tour - Panel Guest 2023

I spoke on the BBC Biteszie tour in 2023 as a panel guest, where I spoke to multiple secondary school year groups and advised on GCSEs, career paths, apprenticeships and other relevant topics.

BFI

I have been selected to take part in multiple, highly competitive and nation-wide offered BFI courses. During these courses I have learnt valuable knowledge and skills, as well as met other young creatives.

  • Animation Camp/ course - 2021

I was able to create my own stop-motion animated short, and advance my confidence and passion for the industry and network with industry professionals. 

  • Screenwriting Camp/ course - 2021

I worked in a writers room and created a short script which was performed by actors, and also created my own monologue which was performed and recorded professionally. 

  • Film Programming and Audience development residential course - 2022-2023

Taking place in Sheffield; on this course, I attended multiple lectures and workshops. As a team, designed a film festival event with a provided budget, which took place in Sheffield Showroom cinema in 2023.

  • NFTS Craft Skills Course/ Residential - 2023

In 2023, I worked as the role of a Producer, alongside other young creatives as a part of the craft skills course offered by the National Film and Television school.

Art Courses

I have participated in various art courses, where I was able to visually express my creative skills. Including participating in a clay making course, which involved the remodelling of my local museum; as well as being selected to take part in a residential course at Dartmoor working alongside other artists and creating my own pieces.

Work Experience

The Queen’s Theatre (Barnstaple) 2021-2022

Out of my own time (alongside college),I attended my local theatre to gain work experience and general theatre knowledge. This is a work experience opportunity that hasn’t been offered before at my theatre and is something I was able to set up with the theatre director. In this position I have been able to learn a lot of knowledge about management and careers in theatre, as well as putting my own ideas, thoughts and opinions forward.

Mentoring (2022-current)

In my extracurricular time, I volunteer as a mentor through online platforms. As a mentor, I talk with secondary school and college aged students, advising them on various different methods and ways to achieve their educational goals. Currently, I am mentoring a GCSE art student, aiding them in balancing workloads, suggesting future steps and answering questions about final exams.

Scout Team leader (volunteer) 2015-2024

Duties and responsibilities: Organisation of camp events for small and large groups of children, with an inclusive approach, whilst adhering to Health and Safety regulations. Encourage and mentor individuals to better their skills. Patience and ability to motivate, empower and enthuse people. Received gold chief scout award
